Find Your Happy

Doesn’t it just make sense that the more time you put into doing the things you love to do, the happier you will be? It’s a sad realization but most Americans do not allow time in their life to pursue the things that excite them. In fact, according to Harris Polls only one in three Americans feel happy! That means that only 33.3% of Americas population is living a life full of happiness.

One of the biggest mistakes we make is not allowing time in our lives for the things that stimulate us and make us feel great. If we want to live an enjoyable life we must do things that spark those emotions. Too many men and women go on auto-pilot in their life; meaning they do the same thing over and over again and eventually get stuck in this draining pattern.

Does this sound like you?

  • Wake-up in the morning and get ready for work.
  • Head to work typically until about 5-6pm. Feel mediocre and some-what unfulfilled with your current job.
  • Come home, make dinner, watch TV, spend a few hours taking care of the family.
  • Go to bed.

DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN!

The key question however, is how? How do we find our happy place. The truth is happiness is a choice. Each day we have to make a conscious decision to do things that fulfill us and bring joy to us. The last thing we want to do is fall into the statistic of 66% who are unhappy and unfulfilled. So what can you do each day to contribute to your well being and find your happy?

Happiness doesn’t come by doing things that make you feel mediocre, by hanging out with people who don’t make you feel great, and by keeping your life on auto pilot.

So if you're feeling stuck and unfulfilled, it’s time to reset your buttons and make time to enjoy your life. If you only have one hour a week of happy you time that is not enough! Do the math with me.

24 hours in a day x7 days a week =168 hours a week/1 hour a week
= .0059 percent of your time dedicated to happiness

I think you deserve more than that!

Remember that happiness starts within in you, your thoughts, and your overall mindset. Creating this reality means your environment and time spent daily must encompass joy, positivity, and excitement.

If you haven't already, I encourage you to input two hours a day where you focus on your happy, meaning spending time in your happy zone! The key is to input it in your calendar as if it were a meeting so you don't double book yourself :)

“Folks are usually about as happy as they make their minds up to be.”
